Beekeepers typically render beeswax by melting it down after honey extraction. The melted wax is then filtered through a fine cloth to remove impurities, before being poured into molds to form blocks with desired shapes and weights.

Natural beeswax is more valuable and possesses superior physical properties compared to synthetic wax. In addition to its traditional use in candle making, beeswax is widely used in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, and metal industries — functioning as a waterproofing agent, polish, and lubricant. Countries with the highest demand for beeswax include the United States, France, Japan, and Germany. Moreover, beeswax can be recycled within the beekeeping industry itself to produce artificial comb foundations, helping bees save time and energy in building new hives.
